We are encountering an alien terrain within sex and relationships; folks seeking technology to satisfy needs otherwise met in interpersonal relationships; digital spaces and entities for emotional regulation, connection and pleasure. Can the AI attune to our human needs? Can pornography, engagement with sex work, and online relationships hold the erotic and emotional fields well? We are already seeing the impact of this sex tech on human relationships and sexuality, and need tools and models to address this changing landscape. 

 I’ve had more sexual and relational experiences online than in real life. And I’m not alone. As a Xennial therapist and sex worker living through Covid and a myriad other social hurdles; isolation, alienation due to diverse identities, and safety concerns lead many to seek online sources for well-being.  From lovers, friends, to clients and strangers in chat rooms and social platforms, our social and relational systems adapted to thrive and multiply in digital spaces. Mindy Seu (cyberfeminism index, a history of sex on the internet) teaches us Sex and sex workers motivated the development and subversion of many of the places we connect digitally, and yet as a culture and as clinicians we struggle to have direct conversations about these topics due to stigma and bias. My lived experience and clinical background make me an expert in addressing these topics from an inclusive, sex-positive, pleasure-centered, and relational lens.
